The North Shore is Oʻahu’s country: the old town of Haleʻiwa, the shave ice at Matsumoto’s, Waimea Valley and, in winter, the great waves.

Sights

Waimea Valley and the beaches of the coast.

Eating and drinking

Matsumoto Shave Ice in Haleʻiwa.

Staying

The Ritz-Carlton Oʻahu, Turtle Bay.

In winter, watch the surf from the beach; in summer, swim.

Our advice: winter waves are for experts only; read the lifeguards’ signs.
