The rental car companies are at the airports (Hawaiʻi DOT Airports). On Oʻahu you can do without a car in Waikīkī; hire one for the days you explore. On Maui, Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi Island a car is close to essential. Ask your hotel about parking, which is charged in Waikīkī.
